The ADHD Women’s Wellbeing Podcast
“We may not be responsible for the world that created our minds, but we can take responsibility for the mind with which we create the world”
- Gabor Mate
What I’ve been listening to recently…
This quote from the trauma expert Gabor Mate illustrates to me that although we cannot necessarily control the world around us we have the choice to be responsible for our thoughts.
I have two children who have the same parents but who are very different. My younger daughter is currently getting help with her mental health and various labels have been mentioned as possibilities. As a trainee counsellor, I am fascinated with our minds and our relationships with others and I have been listening and reading about so many different possible diagnoses.
A coach told me about this ADHD podcast and the shock I have had is that listening to it I find myself resonating with so much that is discussed. I have gone back to the beginning of the series and have been jumping between them and the most recent episodes.
In this podcast, ADHD lifestyle & wellbeing coach and EFT practitioner, mum of four and ADHD herself, Kate Moryousef has conversations with global experts, thought leaders, professionals and authors about how we can harness our wellbeing to work alongside our brains and enhance our lives. The focus is women who have ADHD but the advice on motivation, calming the nervous system, struggles with anxiety and finding a calmer more balanced life are applicable to us all.
I have been finding this a fascinating insight to my own brain, thoughts and relationships and the awareness (diagnosis or no diagnosis) has hugely helped me find more self-compassion and acceptance without self-criticism, judgement and blame. If you are interested in this area of mental health and are looking for honest conversations to help you live a kinder and more authentic life then I would recommend this podcast.
If you need help or support with your own mental health please seek help. Emma is not yet a qualified counsellor, but you can find one on the BACP website and our Resources page is full of organisations who might be able to help.
