Zoe Science & Nutrition podcast
What I’ve been listening to recently…
The world’s top scientists sharing their explanations of how the knowledge from their research can improve your health.
I wonder how many others found they became addicted to Tim Spector’s covid updates on the Zoe Symptom app during the pandemic? Zoe now has a podcast that translates some of the scientists ground breaking research and their latest discoveries on health, nutrition and gut health in terms that are simple to understand, so that we can make the best decisions for our health.
Some of the episodes I have enjoyed so far are:
Food Intolerances: What’s the Story? As the number of people with food intolerances grows each year, people are eating increasingly restricted diets, removing ingredients from their plates and sometimes eating potentially damaging processed foods. The episode answers questions such as How you know if you have a food intolerance, what parents can do to prevent allergies in children and various FODMAP questions.
Is Dark Chocolate Good for Weight Loss? Looking at whether there is any truth to the claims that chocolate can improve our mood, our health and even our libido! An episode that answers the question of milk vs dark chocolate and whether eating chocolate before bed is a bad idea.
Alcohol: Can it ever be healthy? Enquiring into the contradictions about alcohol to see what the science says about the liquid that is often used to help the end of day wind down or lubricating awkward social situations. Answering questions like why hangovers get worse with age and whether red wine is healthy.
Menopause: How your body changes and what you can do. Menopause affects over half of the world’s population and its effects can be serious for the 1.2 billion women worldwide who are affected, yet it is rarely discussed. A specialist doctor talks about HRT, perimenopuse, body shape changes and hormones.
Is exercise or nutrition more important for weight loss? As society has changed many of us now live our lives in front of a screen and some of us don’t need to leave the house at all. Looking at issues such as why exercise matters, how much exercise we need to see health benefits, fasting, how important exercise is for menopausal women and the difference between strength training and cardio.
