Calm Christmas

Calm Christmas and a Happy New Year: A Little Book of Festive Joy by Beth Kempton
A must-read for those who dream of a calm Christmas!

Beth Kempton is a writer who focuses on wellbeing and sharing inspirational stories.  This little book is a delightful read and spans late November to early January – so you need to start it now!  In a nurturing and sensitive way, it takes the reader through the festive build-up, the celebrations and the start of the new year.

Enticing you away from the frenetic energy of the pre-Christmas build up, Beth invites you to cozy up and pause to explore what a more meaningful Christmas means to you.  Full of stories, tips and advice, this gem of a book helps the reader to slow down, stay calm and connect away from the social construction of a ‘perfect Christmas’.

With a focus on wellbeing in winter, the book acknowledges the fact that Christmas is in fact a season of natural hibernation and inspires you to germinate new dreams for the year ahead. After taking you through Christmas, the book continues towards a New Year full of memories, rest and rejuvenated inspiration.  The book is a wonderful journey through a usually stressful time and it connects with the concept of an authentic and meaningful festive period.

I am a faithful follower of Beth, who feels like a wise friend, so I admit to being biased! However, I truly loved the honesty of this book and the fact that it challenges the festive habits we have acquired over the years.  The idea of stepping away from the commercial madness and instead focusing on what Christmas really means will now be an annual beneficial exercise for me and I am sure this book will help others too.

What I wanted: Help with planning my own nurturing and calm Christmas – and this book delivered!

What I loved: The book focuses on the fact that we are all unique – it is the perfect fireside read for someone who wants to discover what Christmas really means to them.

“Just as there is no one shape of a family, there is no one way to ‘do’ Christmas”
